- LaurieAnn: MIXED BAG - We have a mixed bag of economic info coming out throughout the night and in the morning before the bell. Between 2-5am EST we have $GDP from Europe, the ZEW Survey (Germany current economic conditions), Europe current account info, plus others, etc. . . Then in our morning we have lots of retail sales info that could be positive and Empire State $MFG survey (a glimpse of our manufacturing-NY) and PPI (Producer Pricing). This info will most likely be so mixed that it will confound even the savviest of traders. Trend lightly into the morning. We may have a 'buy on dip' moment tomorrow if our data is good and we can all forget about Europe for a nanosecond. LA
- hwyflier: Large jump in Japanese #financials with Dubai exposure: The benchmark Nikkei climbed 217.41 points to 9,298.93 after falling 3.2 percent on Friday to a four-month closing low, marking its fifth straight week of losses -- a run unseen since June-July 2008. The broader Topix rose 2.6 percent to 832.13. As concerns about Dubai eased, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (Symbol : MBFJF) , the top bank, shot up 6.1 percent to 471 yen and No. 2 Mizuho Financial Group (Symbol : $MFG also jumped 6.1 percent to 157 yen. Third-ranked Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (Symbol : SMFNF surged 5.5 percent to 2,765 yen.
